Just woke up and here's a couple of observations I'd like to make:

Observation A

If you'd like to move in with us why would you do any of the following:

  • Adress me as "Sie". Would you like to live with somebody who you have to say "Sie" to? I think not.
  • Come across like the Spanish Inquisition (Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!!) asking me about everything shy of shoe size and then hang up because you don't like smokers (which you asked at the end why?)
  • But most important: Why? Why? Why would you call Saturday morning at 8 a.m.? Nobody will want you to move in after that.

Oh well, today there's four people coming over who did not do any of the above and we'll see how that goes. If you, by the way want to move in or if you know anybody, just send me an email and we'll see.

Observation B

You wake up. You look into the mirror. You notice one thing: The day before you have spent ages trying to control your hair. It looked like crap when you were going out. But now that you've slept on it and nobody's going to see it it looks like you always want it to look. Why is that? It's just one of those inexplicable freak of nature things again.

So much for now, I'm going to get breakfast now and then I'll start cleaning up the apartment. (Wouldn't want those potential roommates to get the right impression :)

Today started out as a very bad day. I felt like total crap and sat on my couch rather listlessly. The evening was nice, though, I met a friend who lives in Australia now who I hadn't seen for about two years. Reminiscing is always fun...ah, those were the days :) Now I'll go sleep in my new bed and we'll see if I feel any differently tomorrow.

A) Technical Update

After dumping a bottle of beer onto my laptop, the keys "t" and "7" aren't working anymore. Great news, as my computer still isn't up and running. Fortunately, I can use the external keyboard and it seems the damage is limited to the keys.

B) Bed Update

Much pushing, pulling and swearing moved my huge bed to the opposite side of the room where I discovered that it is 1cm too long for where I wanted to put it. Left it there anyway, everybody assured me it looked good where it was. Rearranging the furniture has had the disadvantage that my stereo now sits rather forlornly in the middle of the room as there is, alas, no more room for it. I sincerely hope that my parents will pick up my old bed this weekend or else I will not be able to access my closet anymore.

C) Life Fairness Update

Nope. Not at all. (Sounds of gnashing teeth) While I was rearranging stuff I found old love letters adressed to me and of course had to read them. Why? I knew it would make me sad. But I did anyway. And it did make me sad. At least I could have said: "Told you so!" to myself. But somehow it did not seem any fun to be smarter than myself.

D) What else?

Discovered that there are so few cigarettes in a pack nowadays that when you open the pack the cigarettes are already very loose.
Played Skat with Diana and Ulisch. While we probably are the best Skat-Players in existence we should never ever go to trial in front of Skat court as we would surely lose big time.
Now I'll go watch the new Buffy episode as that is the only thing that can make me reconciled with C)

I just had a really sad phonecall from a friend. Fit everybody else's pattern. Apparently, being in love is rather difficult these days...sigh..

Topic: How to Save Lots of Time

I have this really clever way of doing things: I'm figuring that if I do everything at once, it'll be over in no time. Hence, I set out putting up my new bed. Other people might have gone about it this way: First dismantle your old bed and take it away. Then, reconfigure your room so you have space where to put your new bed. Then, clean everything up so you have space where you can assemble your bed. Next, make sure you have the appropriate tools. Finally, assemble your bed and presto! Not me.

First, I dumped all the stuff in my room somewhere else in my room in huge piles. Then, I moved my desk and the computer. After that I measured if there was room for the bed where I had moved the desk. There wasn't. So I decided to put the bed there anyway just to see how it would look. Then I dismantled the old bed and put it upright against the wall. After pushing everything out of the way so I had a square about the size of the bed, I started to unwrap everything. It was as I suspected. Everything was in itty bitty small pieces and I had to assemble the whole damn thing like a puzzle. Luckily, I could convince Diana to help me and Ulisch joined forces with us later. Of course, nothing fit where it should have and now it looks kind of crappy. Well, I'll admit we lacked the proper screwdrivers and did not have the right hammer. And the wrapping got into our way all the time.

Now every square inch of my room is covered in something. The bed is huge. I should have gotten the smaller size but my parents, hopeful as they are, said I might someday have somebody sleep over *wink, wink*. Oh well. I'll have to figure out where exactly to put it. I have an idea but that involves moving a couple of shelves around and will be a very close call if it fits at all. At least I tried to measure it. If I just wasn't so disorganized...my room will never be the same.

Then I left the chaos and went to have sushi with Ulisch, Tinisch and Marco. Running sushi. Running time for the sushi: exactly 2:51:2 minutes once around the restaurant. We timed it. And we even cheered it on :)

Ah, the wasted hours of my life...don't go there...just don't do it...

But Them Pigs Are So Damn Cute And If I Just Try One More Time I'll Get The Bird To Drop The Time Thingy Just Right And I'll Get The Cake, Too

Warned ya.

Topic: Just Shoot Me

Either it's the onset of Alzheimer's Disease or I'm becoming totally braindead. Saturday afternoon, I parked my car in the spot where the schoolbus stops (school days only). I had planned to move it in time, i.e. before Monday morning. Today, I went out shopping with my parents. When I returned, I suddenly remembered the car. Oh, no!!!!...Ran to the bus stop...it was gone. Called the police to find out where they towed it. Turns out the police has no record of the car. Hmmmmmmmmmmm....then I remembered that I went out on Saturday and had parked the car at Ulisch's. How embarassing. To quote my roommate's boyfriend: "I've known many people to lose many things, but I've never encountered anybody who lost their car."

What did I buy? A new bed because my back hurts like crazy on my current bed. The only thing is it came in a small package and I am afraid I'll have to put every single slat in place by myself. I'll report back tomorrow and tell you how it went.

I hate the people at play.com. They keep sending me newsletter after newsletter trying to lure me into buying DVDs. And I always do...ah well, if you're not working you might as well spend money. What did I buy today? It's an eclectic mix. (I'll just go ahead and nonchalantely (sic!) use fancy words, if I may)

  • Dirty Dancing (A must for those depressive nights - it's a girl thing. Nothing cheers you up more than yelling: "I carried a watermelon!" at the top of your lungs.)
  • Starship Troopers ("The infantry made me the man I am today." Plus Doogie Hauser. Does it get any better? BUUUUUUUUGS!!!!!)
  • The Shawshank Redemption (I'm the only person on the face of this earth who has not seen the movie. And I desperately want to. But I always missed the beginning when it was on and I will NEVER EVER watch a movie without seeing the beginning. Just like I will NEVER EVER return to the house if I've forgotten something - but that's a different story and will have to be told another time)
  • Surprise DVD - present for Ulisch (No, I'm not telling :)
